I'm Neal,
Strap in, this one is going to be a long one. My journey in this small little world began after I immigrated to the United States from Iran at the age of 13, which was a significant culture shock to say the least. At the time I didn't know any English and the language barrier didn't exactly make it any easier to get through school. I was the classroom wallflower, which I didn't mind as I was in constant joy of having gained access to the world wide web, and the immense amount of resources available to learn whatever and whenever, no longer being limited by government censorship and most importantly DSL internet speeds. Kids nowadays can't even imagine not having access to sites like YouTube. Well that was my life. I can't wait to be the one telling kids how lucky they are because back in my day...
I found myself drawn to creative visuals and their ability to evoke emotions in people, which led me to explore digital media and content creation with YouTube videos about tech. Fun fact, making YouTube videos and speaking in front of the camera is how I taught myself how to speak English. At some point I even worked as a video editor for one of the biggest tech youtubers. My passion for technology grew stronger with each passing day, and I knew that I wanted to make a career out of it. I just wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I guess some things never change.
While taking economics and psychology classes in college, I was on the lookout for side hustles that could help me get my hands on computer hardware that didn't limit my creative endeavours and clothes that were'nt from the discount aisle of Ross. That's when I found a community of like-minded individuals and soon after began what eventually led to my four-year employment at Cybersole. At Cyber I learned a great deal about branding and marketing, and thanks to the creative freedom I was given by Lucas, the CEO, as well as the synergy between the creative and development team, we were able to experiment with various marketing and launch strategies that helped us become market leaders and produce some of the best work to come out of that industry. This community and the countless number of talented people I was able to meet will always hold a special place in my heart.
The pandemic came in like a wrecking ball and changed the trajectory of many people, myself included. During this difficult time I noticed an increasing demand for online services and decided to focus on helping startups with brand management and marketing services. What started as a freelance gig quickly turned into a full-time job, and I decided to turn it into a creative agency. I gave it the name Viewport because every digital creator, regardless of expertise, has to create within the bounds of a viewport.
